Predictors of breastfeeding cessation among HIV positive women in South Africa
Abstract
Background: In 2006, 29. of women aged 25-34 years who attended public antenatal clinics, tested HIV-positive. Thus, 300,000 infants in SA are exposed to HIV annually. SA has greatest burden of HIV, with an estimated 5.5 million people (18.8% of population aged 15-49 years) living with HIV. HIV transmission from mother to child (MTCT) is 5-20% greater in breastfeeding populations
